Overall, a higher and sharper nose that looks natural and promotes overall harmony is a dream for some who are not exactly satisfied with their nose. Unfortunately, it is typically the case for us Asians who are loosely categorised as having flat, poorly-defined noses.
It is these perceived cosmetic flaws that have fueled the demand for rhinoplasty in the past few decades—a surgical procedure for correcting and reconstructing the nose. But, today, there are already effective, safer, and less invasive nose augmentation procedures available in Singapore, and more importantly, with significantly less downtime: nose thread lift and nose fillers.
How do these aesthetic treatments work? What’s the difference between the two? Which is better for you? Find out in this article.
Nose Threads & Fillers in Singapore: How They Work
Nose filler treatment is a non-surgical procedure in which injectable fillers are used to alter and sculpt the nose by adding precise volume to it. It uses different types of fillers, the most common of which is hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance found in the body.
The treatment is performed with an anaesthetic cream and the actual procedure takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The results are immediately visible (e.g. a higher nose bridge) and can last for up to 1 year or longer.
A nose thread lift is another non-invasive treatment for nose augmentation. It adds height and projection to the nose using fine threads that are inserted under the skin, serving as a scaffolding for the nose while stimulating collagen to provide adequate lift for the nose. The polydioxanone (PDO) threads are fully biocompatible and absorbable by the body.
Similar to nose fillers, the results with a nose thread lift are immediately visible. It is done under local anaesthesia and takes about 15-30 minutes to complete. Results from this treatment also can last for up to 1 year or longer but can be repeated 9 months after for longer-lasting results.
These nose augmentation procedures are able to give desirable results in the hands of a skilled and licensed aesthetic doctor in Singapore. Although you may experience some minor discomfort such as mild swelling, redness and bruising at the treated area, these should immediately resolve in a few days.
Should You Get Nose Fillers or a Thread Lift?
Whether you should undergo nose fillers or a nose thread lift in Singapore is a matter of which perceived cosmetic flaw you are most bothered with. To highlight how they work, we discuss some of the possible results you may want to achieve:
Smaller + Sharper Nose Tip: Nose thread lifts are able to achieve a higher nose tip and fillers can be done to shape the nose tip to be more pointed or sharper. Sometimes a combination of both works best.
Contoured + Straighter Nose: Nose threads also work well in shaping and defining the nose. Because it can lift the nose from the bridge down to the tip, it can give a similar look that is achieved when contouring the nose with makeup.
Higher Nose Bridge: Nose fillers are often used to precisely reshape the nose bridge, proving it ideal for those who have flat or lower nose bridges, but nose threads can add extra accentuation to shape the nose bridge.
These go to show that thread lifts and nose filler treatments in Singapore don’t necessarily have to be done in isolation. While they can be used individually to augment the nose, their effects can be used in combination to give more dramatic results.
